After a tumultuous summer, saddled with scandalous allegations, Frank Haith couldn’t wait for the college basketball season to start. But instead of being distracted by a NCAA investigation at Miami (Haith’s former school), Hurricane Haith’s Tiger team has blown through opponents in devastating fashion, including Tuesday night’s 92-53 victory over 18th ranked California.
“Things just clicked,” said Haith in the understatement of the night.
Though we’re still early into the season, Mizzou has defeated it’s first five opponents by an average of 26 points. Of course that includes the obligatory early-season “gimme” games, but Cal is a Top 25 team expected to win the Pac-12 by many experts.
As Mizzou continues to run away from opponents with its precision, unselfish brand of basketball, pundits are starting to chatter about Mizzou being a Top 10 team.
If Haith can keep his team focused and ignore both the praise and potential distractions, the Tigers appear poised to make some noise this season.
