Derrick Rose will miss the rest of the season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee late in Chicago’s 103-91 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers in Saturday’s playoff opener at Chicago.
Rose injured his left knee 1:22 left in the fourth quarter of Saturday’s win over the Philadelphia 76ers in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals series. An MRI performed after the game revealed the torn ACL.
He scored 23 points and was playing more like the league’s reigning MVP after missing 27 games because of injuries during the regular season, but his season came to an end as the Bulls were wrapping up an impressive victory.
The injury is expected to sideline Rose for six to nine months, but Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau said that a definitive timetable has not been set yet and no surgery has been scheduled.
