A man was shot in the leg early Monday morning at the Orlando home of Washington Wizards guard DeShawn Stevenson, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
Stevenson was asleep inside the home at the time of the incident, according to a police report
The report said former Cleveland Cavaliers forward Brandon Hunter and another Stevenson acquaintance, Ronnie Millsap, were involved in an altercation with a man who had followed them to Stevenson’s home, which is located in a gated community in Windermere, Fla.
According to the report, Hunter and Millsap approved the entrance of the car, believing it to contain a group of women they had met at a nearby club.
When the cars stopped in front of Stevenson’s home, a man emerged from a white Cadillac Escalade and began arguing with one of the women. When Hunter approached the car, the man stated “you don’t know me,” and went back to his vehicle, the police report said.
When Hunter and Millsap turned to walk back toward Stevenson’s home, the man pulled out a handgun and began firing, striking two cars and the side of Stevenson’s house, according to the report. Hunter and Millsap told police that they did not return fire.
Later, police responded to a hospital call regarding an Escalade matching the suspect’s vehicle with bullet damage, and a possible suspect with a bullet wound in his leg. The injured man was identified as Curtis Ruff.
Hunter, Millsap and Stevenson declined to press charges.
