Former Pattonville High football standout Martin Nance was selected to play in the Senior Bowl on Saturday, Jan. 28 in Mobile, Ala.
The Senior Bowl is considered the most prestigious of the postseason college All-Star games. Coaches, general managers and player personnel people from all of the National Football League franchises will be in attendance to evaluate the talent.
A 6’5” 210-pound wide receiver, Nance just completed his career at Miami (Ohio) University as one of top receivers in the school’s history. Nance finished his career as Miami’s record holder for career receptions with 208 and receiving yards with 3,131. He was also a two-time All-Mid American Conference First Team selection, including this season. He also holds the single-season record for receiving touchdowns.
Nance was the first wide receiver in Miami’s history to top the 1,000-yard mark twice in his career. As a senior in 2005, Nance had 81 receptions for 1,107 yards and 14 touchdowns. He ranked sixth nationally in receptions per game (7.4) and his 14 receiving touchdowns were third best in the nation. He averaged 100 yards a game, which ranked his sixth nationally. Nance made a strong comeback in 2005 after suffering a season-ending knee injury just three games into the 2004 season.
