University of Missouri football standout Jeremy Maclin was named to the Associated Press All-American First Team after a spectacular freshman season with the Tigers.
Maclin took home a boatload of postseason awards and helping the Tigers to the Big XII Conference North Division championship, a record 11 victories and a berth in the Cotton Bowl on Jan. 1.
The 6’1” 185-pound Maclin was a consensus All-American pick after his record setting debut season at Mizzou. The former Kirkwood High star was selected to the team as an all-purpose player.
Maclin set a new NCAA record for freshmen by amassing 2,713 all-purpose yards. He emerged as one of one of the most electrifying players in all of college football, regardless of class.
Maclin was the Tigers’ big playmaker as a receiver, running back and punt and kick returner. He finished the season with 16 touchdowns. He led Mizzou with 77 receptions for 1,023 yards. He also added 359 yards rushing, which was second on the team. Maclin also returned two punts and one kick off for touchdowns in collecting a combined 1,341 yards in kick return yardage.
Maclin also earned First Team All-American recognition from several other national organizations, including the Sporting News, Rivals.com, SI.com and the Football Writers Association of American. He was also chosen to the Sporting News Freshman All-American First Team. Maclin also named to the All Big XII First Team and he shared All Big XII Freshman of the Year honors with Texas Tech’s Michael Crabtree.
