Mark Mulder was gone before he pitched two innings as were the St. Louis Cardinals’ chances of winning the opening game of a three-game series with the Florida Marlins.
The 9-1 win was the 10th consecutive victory for the Marlins, who are now just a game and a half off the Wild Card lead held by the San Diego Padres.
The Cards still hold a three and a half-game lead over the Cincinnati Reds who lost 6-5 in 16 innings to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
