According to the Associated Press, a jury of seven women and five men is about to hear opening statements in the child sexual abuse case of former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky.

Sandusky’s trial on 52 criminal counts inside a central Pennsylvania courthouse begins in earnest Monday and should last a few weeks.

But along with the trial, several other investigations are under way that may also shed light on what occurred. Those looking into the matter include a state grand jury, federal prosecutors, Penn State’s own investigation and civil litigators.

Sandusky’s denied the allegations, which include charges he attacked children inside Penn State football team showers and at his own home in State College.
