For the

fourth consecutive week in this young NFL season, the Rams came up

short, losing 17-10 to the Washington Redskins. And for the fourth

consecutive time in this young football season, the Rams, the fans,

and media alike all want to know something. What the hell is going

on?

“font-size: 9.0pt; font-family: Verdana;”>Really. Because, this is

totally unacceptable. All around the NFL this past weekend, I found

myself living vicariously through the fans in other NFL

cities.

“font-size: 9.0pt; font-family: Verdana;”>Look at the the Detroit

Lions, for example. My extended family up north is beside

themselves after watching their Lions storm back to beat the Dallas

Cowboys 34-30. And they now boast a record of 4-0.

“font-size: 9.0pt; font-family: Verdana;”>The San Francisco 49ers

survived Mike Vick and his record-setting performance of 491 total

yards from scrimmage.

“font-size: 9.0pt; font-family: Verdana;”>The Arizona Cardinals got

three rushing scores from Beanie Wells and lost a close game to the

New York Giants.

“font-size: 9.0pt; font-family: Verdana;”>Even the Kansas City

Chiefs won a game, beating the Minnesota Vikings.

“font-size: 9.0pt; font-family: Verdana;”>How about

the Cincinnati Bengals upending the upstart Buffalo Bills and

knocking them from the ranks of the unbeaten?

“font-size: 9.0pt; font-family: Verdana;”>Can you blame me? Can you

blame the people that live here? The same people that show up every

Sunday, paying $20 and sometimes up to $30 to park on a vacated

gravel parking lot. Then, there are the $10 cheeseburgers and the

$12 you pay for a beer that is poured out of a can.

“font-size: 9.0pt; font-family: Verdana;”>What football fan you

know would want to go through this? The people here deserve better.

And the Rams deserve better for themselves.

“font-size: 9.0pt; font-family: Verdana;”>I’m tired of hearing

people talking about the glory days from 1999-2001. However, you

can’t blame anyone for hanging onto the past like Charlie Brown’s

close friend Linus did with his little blanket.

“font-size: 9.0pt; font-family: Verdana;”>All the Rams have to do

is make a play. There is no reason the Rams shouldn’t be 3-1. But,

when you are 6-for-18 on third down conversions and average 2.5

yards per pass, get sacked seven times for a net loss of 37 yards,

commit nine inexcusable penalties and drop five passes, there is

not much hope.

“font-size: 9.0pt; font-family: Verdana;”>Then the natives are

going to cling tighter to the past like never before. Rams head

coach Steve Spagnuolo’s record is 8-28 so far. And I watched some

of the Rams future opponents last Sunday. Mainly, the Rams

opponents are in the NFC West division, and as of right now, at

this moment, I just don’t see a win anywhere.

“font-size: 9.0pt; font-family: Verdana;”>Honestly. I don’t. The

Rams are bad when it comes to making a play. Ironically, they’re

one of the best at dropping the ball.
