For one of the few times in my life, I’m speechless.

I thought that the St. Louis Rams would show us what they are made of. Instead, we got a heavy dose of what they are not made of. That’s heart. Just days before the 37-13 loss to the Seattle Seahawks, Pro-Bowl wideout Torry Holt called out the offensive line.

Sorry, “Big Game.” I saw the same penalties, the lack of effort, the lack of intestinal fortitude. I also saw the timid play-calling, poor tackling and buffoonery.

The sports pages and radio stations have been blowing up. Since the Rams are off to another slow start of 0-3, the natives here are more than just restless. They want answers and they want them now!

Coach Scott Linehan has talked the tough talk on radio and on television. It never gets translated to the field of play. How much more does owner Chip Rosenbloom need to see? Is it going to take the Rams losing all the games this season? Or will it take the defense to decide if they feel like playing?

We have too many questions and not enough answers. And there are not enough of the right answers to keep the angry mob at bay.

I was always skeptical of Linehan. I always wondered if he was the right guy for the job. Linehan promised more stability on offense. Something that we did not see a lot of when former coach Mike Martz was here in St. Louis. But, if it came down to Martz and Linehan, people had plenty more to think about.

Now, St. Louis sports fans get to see Mike Martz prance out there with the same offensive mindset when he was here in St. Louis. “Mad Mike” is currently patrolling the sidelines as offensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers’ offense possess a lot of unwanted players from other teams’ squads, but they have made a home with the 49ers.

Too bad we can’t say the same about the Rams. Scott Linehan made one too many promises that he cannot keep.

The Rams could let the beleaguered coach waddle in defeat after defeat. What good does that do? It’s almost a no-win situation. Sooner or later, the Rams have to make a move. Right know, the angry mob wants to see something happen. You can’t blame them.
