According to witnesses, the fight including Rams player Dominique Byrd stemmed from an incident early this morning when he got a little too hands on with a woman at the Pepper Lounge ( 2005 Locust, downtown).
At around 2:30 a.m., Byrd allegedly grabbed the buttocks of a woman and was subsequently apprehended by a male witness. Upon receiving a physical challenge by the man, Byrd hit the man in the head with a glass forcing him to seek medical attention. The man received several stitches as a result.
The circuit attorney’s office filed a second-degree assault charge today Byrd following the brawl.
Police said Byrd was expected to surrender today.
Byrd, 22, is a rookie tight end for the Rams. He played last year for Southern California.
