What was anticipated as a walk-through for the NFC West title the Arizona Cardinals did not disappoint.
Led by former St. Louis Ram Kurt Warner, the Cardinals put a whupping on his former team 34-10 to clinch the franchise’s first division title since 1975. While most NFL pundits expected the Cardinals to beat the Rams, a few of us back home here in St. Louis expected to see the Rams put up a fight.
Nevertheless, the home team took the normal position as a punching bag on their way to another embarrassing loss to the same team that vacated St. Louis back in 1987. The Arizona Cardinals continued its dominance at home against the St. Louis Rams. The Rams, who have been left for dead, did nothing to let the people know that they are going to fight to the bitter end.
It didn’t take long for our male sheep to fold the tent. If only they had a corner man like the one we saw in the Oscar vs. Pacquio fight this weekend. Maybe, just maybe, someone on the Rams sideline could have thrown in the towel. To bad this is football not boxing.
At 2-11, the season is finally coming to a close, and a lot of important questions remain very relevant. Like, do you keep Jim Haslett as a head coach? I say no. The only way this franchise could possibly move forward is to move on without Haslett. I don’t want to hear anymore that the players love playing for Jim Haslett. If they did, you would not see these same players get constantly gashed by an anemic running offense like the Arizona Cardinals has.
The Cleveland Browns have already contacted former coach Marty Schottenheimer. This means the Rams need to be very proactive once the season has concluded. I am a Jim Haslett fan. Nevertheless, the Rams need to move in a brand new direction to fix some of the problems that exist on this team.
So if Marty is not available to resurrect this franchise, then who is the chosen one? Jim Schwartz, the defensive coordinator of the Tennessee Titans, is a front runner. He has one of the best defenses in the NFL. His guys tend to fly to the football and tackle very well on defense. Most people say that the resurgence of the Titans has a lot to do with quarterback Kerry Collins. That may be true. However, the defense of the Titans has been equally effective.
With only three games left on the schedule, the Rams have to look at the future. They have to figure out who has to stay and who has to go.
