Rumors just hit the wire about a 10-figure multi-million dollar lawsuit involving him and the mother of four of his children. And now word is spreading about an incident where Former Knick star Latrell Sprewell locked himself inside his Westchester mansion and held police at bay for nearly an hour and a half in a bizarre standoff after he allegedly beat her up, according to a police report released yesterday.
The coach-choking former NBA star occasionally poked his head from a window on the second floor of his $3 million home to shout at officers standing outside with longtime girlfriend Candace Cabbil, who has filed a $200 million abuse lawsuit against Sprewell in federal court.
“He was acting crazy. The man just wouldn’t come out of the house,” said a cop at Sprewell’s home in Purchase during the incident at 9 p.m. on Dec. 11.
Cops tried to negotiate, but Sprewell shouted from the window that he “did not do anything to Candace,” the report said.
“During the next hour and a half, many verbal requests were made to Mr. Sprewell to cooperate with the investigation and come down and open the door to let us in,” said the report by the Harrison Police Department.
“Mr. Sprewell responded to these requests saying that he would not let us in unless we had a warrant.”
Cabbil had obtained a restraining order against Sprewell -father to four of her five children. She had not, however, served it to him before he showed up and allegedly attacked her.
Another police report says Sprewell stormed into the house, shoved Cabbil into a bedroom and smashed her finger as he ripped a cell phone out of her hand as she apparently tried calling for help.
He then allegedly dragged her down a flight of stairs and shoved her out of the house.
During the ensuing standoff, Sprewell used his children as bargaining chips by parading them before a window in hopes that police would see they were unharmed and go away, cops said.
Eventually, Cabbil asked him to give her purse. Sprewell apparently placed it outside a door.
Cabbil’s keys were in the bag – and she let cops inside, bringing the incident to an end.
