The 6’0” 217-pound junior linebacker came up with a huge performance in the Greyhounds’ 21-20 victory over Ladue in the Class 4, District 6 championship game at Washington University.

Williams seemed to be everywhere on the field as he was credited with 16 solo tackles and five assists for a total of 21 tackles. Williams also had one sack, one fumbled recovery and several key stops that put a halt to Ladue drives in the fourth quarter.

Williams is one of the top returning players from last year’s Clayton team that won the Class 4 state championship. He is the leader of the defensive unit with 80 tackles, three sacks and two fumble recoveries. As a sophomore on the state title team, Williams had 71 tackles with six sacks and four fumble recoveries.

Williams will return as a senior in 2006-07 as one of the area’s most sought after recruits. The Greyhounds played St. Mary’s last night in the Class 4 sectional playoffs.
