The 5’8” 190-pound senior has been a two-way standout for the undefeated Pioneers throughout the 2006 season.

Cannon enjoyed a typical performance last Friday night in the Pioneers’ 35-11 victory at Rolla in the Missouri Class 5 state quarterfinals.

He provided offensive punch by rushing for two touchdowns. On defense, Cannon led the way with 10 tackles and six assists to lead yet another stellar defensive effort by the Pioneers. In a 28-0 victory over Beaumont in district play, he rushed for 126 yards and a touchdown while adding 10 solo tackles on defense.

For the season, Cannon has rushed for 852 yards (on nearly seven yards per carry) and a team-high 11 touchdowns. He is also the leader of the Pioneers’ defense with 76 solo tackles and 49 assists.

Cannon will lead Kirkwood (9-0) into Friday night’s Class 5 state semifinal showdown against visiting McCluer North. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
