The senior quarterback sparkled last Friday night in the Pioneers 28-7 victory over top-ranked McCluer North in the Missouri Class 5 state semifinals at Kirkwood.
Behind Harris’ performance, the Pioneers are going to their first state championship game. The 6’2”, 171-pound Harris completed 8 of 16 passes for 226 yards and two touchdowns. He also added 60 yards of rushing on eight carries for a total of 286 yards from scrimmage.
Harris threw his two touchdown passes in the second quarter when Kirkwood broke a 7-7 tie and broke the game open. He hit Dello Davis on a 35-yard TD pass, then followed up with a 71-yard catch-and-run TD pass to Kimuel Keller.
For the season, Harris completed 74 of 126 passes for 1,271 yards with 13 touchdowns and only five interceptions.
Kirkwood will face two-time defending state-champion Raymore Peculiar in the Class 5 Show-Me Bowl on Saturday night.
