The junior grappler is currently ranked No. 1 in the Class 3 rankings at 285 pounds by the wrestling website Missouriwrestling.com.
Kemp improved his record to 40-0 by winning his weight class at the Class 2, District 2 tournament at Fort Zumwalt North. Kemp defeated J.T. Young of Fort Zumwalt East in the championship match. Kemp has also won individual championships at the St. Charles and Cape Girardeau Central Invitationals.
Kemp is making his third consecutive trip to the state wrestling championships, which will be held this weekend in Columbia. As a sophomore, Kemp compiled a 35-8 record and advanced all the way to the Class 3 state championship match at 285 pounds.
