The Boston Red Sox and St. Louis Cardinals will meet in the World Series for the fourth time (1946, 1967, 2004 and 2013) and the second time in 10 seasons.
Boston won that most recent Fall Classic meeting with a four-game sweep for its first title in 86 years.
The Red Sox, the AL East champions, beat the Tampa Bay Rays in the Division Series and the Detroit Tigers in the ALCS. The Cardinals, the NL Central winners, eliminated the Pittsburgh in the Division Series and wrapped up the pennant by beating the Los Angeles Dodgers in six games.
The World Series kicks off on Wednesday in Boston. The schedule for the 2013 World Series is as follows:
