WBC junior welterweight champion and St. Louis’ own Devon Alexander will get his first title defense on HBO against Juan “Iron Twin” Urango on March 6th.
Devon Alexander “The Great” (19-0 12KO) will face the biggest test of his career in Las Vegas, and defend his WBC junior welterweight crown against fellow champion, IBF junior welterweight titlist Juan “Iron Twin” Urango (22-2-1 17KO). The fight will be televised live on HBO Boxing After Dark.
Alexander won the crown after an impressive 8th round TKO victory over former champion Junior Witter in August. This will be his first main event showcased on national television.
Urango will be making the 2nd defense of his title after knocking out Randall Bailey on ESPN back in August.
The winner of this bout will have a stranglehold on the 140 lb division holding 2 of the 3 major titles.
