Here is the St. Louis American’s weekly look at what some of the area’s former prep standouts are doing in the professional ranks.
Jayson Tatum (Boston Celtics): The former Chaminade College Prep star entered the week as the top 3-point shooter in the league at 49 percent. He is averaging 13.8 points and 5.3 rebounds as the Celtics maintain the top record in the NBA. He had 15 points, six rebounds, two steals, two assists and two blocks in a victory over Orlando, which was his best performance of the week.
Bradley Beal (Washington Wizards): The former Chaminade College Prep star suffered an eye injury last week in Philadelphia when he took an elbow. His best performance last week in three games as a 21 point, four-rebound performance in that loss to the 76ers. For the season, Beal is averaging 22.6 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game.
Patrick McCaw (Golden State Warriors): The former CBC standout scored a season-high 16 points with seven assists, three rebounds and four steals against Sacramento last week. He also had eight points and four assists in a victory at Orlando.
Ben McLemore (Memphis Grizzlies): The former Wellston High standout scored a season-high 14 points against the San Antonio Spurs last Friday night. He also had five points and five assists in a loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers. McLemore is averaging seven points and two rebounds a game.
Sheldon Richardson (Seattle Seahawks): The former Gateway Tech and Mizzou standout had two tackles and two assists in the Seahawks victory over Philadelphia. Richardson also had the game’s biggest defensive play when the stripped Eagles’ quarterback Carson Wentz at the goal line, causing a fumble and resulting in a touchback for the Seahawks.
Jeremy Maclin (Baltimore Ravens): The former Kirkwood High and Mizzou standout had four catches for 41 yards in the Ravens’ 44-20 victory over the Detroit Lions. For the season, Maclin has 36 receptions for 391 yards and three touchdowns.
Adrian Clayborn (Atlanta Falcons): The former Webster Groves standout had one tackle and one assist in the Falcons loss to the Minnesota Vikings. For the season, Clayborn has 18 tackles and eight quarterback sacks.
Blaine Gabbert (Arizona Cardinals): The former Parkway West and Mizzou standout quarterback completed 18 of 32 passes for 221 yards and one touchdown in the Cardinals’ 29-16 loss to the Los Angeles Rams.
