Many of the top high school basketball players in the bi-state area will be in action this weekend at the McDonald’s Riverwar All-Star Basketball Game.

The tripleheader will be held on Saturday at the Mark Twain Building on the campus of the University of Missouri-St. Louis. The first game will be a girls’ game featuring a team of Missouri All-Stars vs. the Illinois All-Stars at 3:30 p.m.

Some of the top players scheduled to play in the girls game are Shakara Jones of Francis Howell Central, Shania Hurst of Kirkwood, Lauren Woods and Brittney Adams of Belleville East, Shameia Green of Normandy and Kara Fransden of Edwardsville.

The next game will be the I-70 Shootout, a boys match-up featuring the St. Louis All-Stars vs. the Kansas City All-Stars. Scheduled to compete for the St. Louis team are DeAndre Gilmore of Cardinal Ritter, Rodney Ford and Josh Dale of Affton and Marvin McNutt of Hazelwood Central. The Kansas City team will be led by Rahmon Fletcher of Paseo and Conner Teahan of Kansas City Rockhurst.

The feature game of the evening will be the Illinois vs. Missouri All-Star game at 7:30 p.m. Missouri will be led by Leon Powell (Vashon), Josh Harrellson (St. Charles), Paul Eckerle (Borgia) and Sam Pearson (Hazelwood Central). Also expected to play is former Hazelwood Central standout Alex Tyus, who spent the past two years at Harmony Prep in Cincinnati. Anthony Mitchell of East St. Louis will lead the Illinois team along with Kavon Lacey of Alton, Lucas O’Rear of Nashville and Joe Allaria of Edwardsville.
