St. Louisan Caleb Love was named the Pac 12 Conference Player of the Year.
The former McDonald’s All-American guard from CBC earned the conference’s top individual honor after leading the Arizona Wildcats to the Pac 12 championship.
The 6’4” Love is the 11th Arizona player to win the award, but he is the first one to earn Player of the Year honors as a transfer. Love spent his first three seasons at North Carolina, where he helped lead the Tar Heels to a berth in the NCAA Tournament championship game in 2022.
Love finished the regular season averaging 18.7 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.4 assists a game while shooting 51 percent from the field, 35 percent from 3-point range and 87 percent from the free throw line. He is also a finalist for the Jerry West Award, which is given to the nation’s top shooting guard. He is also a finalist for the Wooden Award, which is given to the National Player of the Year.
Arizona is currently 24-7 and enters this week’s Pac 12 Tournament as the No. 1 seed. The Wildcats open play on Thursday in Las Vegas.
