St. Louisan Napheesa Collier is a new two-time Gold Medalist and also a part of the biggest American team dynasty in Olympic Games history.
The former Incarnate Word Academy star helped the USA defeat France 67-66 in the women’s basketball gold medal game on the final day of the Olympic Games on Sunday in Paris.
Collier was also a member of the USA team that won gold in Tokyo, Japan in 2021. She saw limited duty in 2021, but she enjoyed a more expanded role this time around where she started every game.
The victory gave the USA women’s basketball team its eight consecutive gold medal. They also made it 61 consecutive victories for the team, dating back to 1992.
Collier had a strong performance in the gold medal game as she scored seven points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Her buckets came at key times of the game. She scored on a left-handed tip-in at the buzzer which tied the game at 25-25 at halftime.
In the third quarter, Collier scored on two consecutive layups which came off great passes from teammate Sabrina Ionescu during this physical, low scoring contest.
Collier was also a member of the USA team that won gold in Tokyo, Japan in 2021. She saw limited duty in 2021, but she enjoyed a more expanded role this time around where she started every game. She averaged 6.7 points and 6.5 rebounds in the six games in Paris.
Collier will now return to her Minnesota Lynx team for the remainder of the WNBA season. Collier has been one of the top players in the league this season as she averages 20 points and 10 rebounds a game.

Collier should be in more MVP discussions!
