Patrick Mahomes is one of a kind and his team is Super Bowl champion for a second consecutive year. Mahomes, the game’s MVP, connected on 34 of 46 passes for 333 yards and added 66 critical rushing yards to lead the Kansas City Chiefs to a 26-22 overtime victory in the first Super Bowl in Las Vegas.
The Chiefs have played in four of the last five Super Bowls, winning three. Mahomes has been named MVP in each of his Super Bowl victories. Sunday’s win makes the Chiefs back-to-back Super Bowl champions, marking the first time in 19 years any team has achieved that. “We’re still one of the youngest teams [in the NFL.] We’re not finished yet,” Mahomes said after the game.
