The San Antonio Spurs played the role of party crashers while securing their first NBA Finals victory in 12 years.

The Spurs defeated the New York Knicks 115-111 in Game 3 of the Finals on Monday night in Madison Square Garden, New York.

The atmosphere in New York was festive as fans were primed to see the Knicks move one step closer to winning their first world championship in 53 years. Instead, the young Spurs team came away with the win, breaking the Knicks’ 13-game winning streak in the postseason. The Spurs also cut the Knicks’ lead to 2-1 in the best of seven series.

All-star center Victor Wembanyama was a dominant force for the Spurs on Monday night. The 7’5″ center led the way with 32 points, eight rebounds and six assists. Guard Stephon Castle also delivered a big performance with 23 points, five rebounds and five assists while shooting nine of 14 from the field. Guard Dylan Harper also scored 13 points off the bench.

Guard Jalen Brunson scored 32 points to lead the Knicks while Jefferson City native OG Anunoby scored 28 points on nine of 13 shooting from the field.

The series resumes on Wednesday night with Game 4 at Madison Square Garden. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. The game will be televised on ABC-TV.
