Boston Celtics great Larry Bird wore 33 on his jersey and Jayson Tatum scored the same number of points on Saturday in a crucial 106-93 Game 3 playoff victory over the host Cleveland Cavaliers.
Jaylen Brown added 28 points to help the Celtics gain a 2-1 series advantage. After being blown out at home on Thursday, Bosten and Tatum responded in a dominant fashion.
“We were just trying to get a win, understanding that we didn’t play as well as we wanted in Game 2,” Tatum said following the game.
“It was a great test and opportunity for us to come out and respond and play better and play harder.”
Donovan Mitchell led the Cavaliers with 33 points, and said his team missed opportunities.
“We missed a lot of shots at the rim, myself included, that I think we just got to make,” he said.
Game 4 of the series is Monday night in Cleveland.
