Browns tight end Kellen Winslow can thank his lucky stars that Romeo Crennel is his head coach and that the first-year headman has the team playing very competitively at 2-2. If this were not the case there is no way the Browns would have agreed to a new contract with Winslow that runs through the 2010 season. Not only does it add a season to Winslow’s previous contract, it includes incentives that could allow Winslow to recoup $2 million of the nearly $3 million in bonus money that he lost for that incredibly immature motorcycle accident last spring.

If Crennel were not head coach and a peer of Hall of Famer Kellen Winslow Sr., Winslow would be rehabbing with the original pact and with no hope of seeing any of that $3 million again.
