East St. Louis’ own Dawn Harper will move forward towards the chance of defending her gold medal in the 100m hurdles after coming in second place of her heat.

The race is garnering much attention as Lolo Jones seeks redemption for her 2008 Olympic appearance in Beijing – where a clip on the ninth hurdle cost her Olympic Glory.

Jones went into Beijing as the favorite of the race, but after tripping over the hurdle Harper maintained composure and became one of the Cinderella stories of the 2008 Olympics.

Kellie Wells will also compete for Team USA in the 100m semifinals.

Australia’s Sally Pearson is favored to win gold. And while most eyes are on Jones, Harper beat Jones and Wells in the Team USA Olympic Qualifier for the 100m Hurdles.
