Running back Steven Jackson is nearing a significant landmark.

He needs just 71 rushing yards to reach 10,000 for his career. He would be the 27th player in NFL history to reach the mark but just the 15th to rush for 10,000 yards for one team. Of the 14 players who have done so with one team, 10 are in the Hall of Fame.

Jackson needs 164 yards in the final three games to reach 1,000 for an eighth consecutive season. On the season, Jackson has rushed for 836 yards and three touchdowns, including a key second-half score in last week’s win at Buffalo.

With 9,929 career yards, Jackson is the leading rusher among all active NFL running backs. He leads by a large margin, as Frank Gore, the second-leading rusher among active backs, is currently 1,269 yards behind Jackson.

Last week, Jackson moved into 27th place in NFL history in rushing yards, passing Clinton Portis.

In Week 6, Jackson moved into 29th place in NFL history as he passed Hall of Famer Earl Campbell on the NFL’s all-time rushing list. Campbell gained 9,407 career yards. In Week 7, Jackson moved into 28th place as he passed former Seahawks RB Shaun

Alexander.

Jackson needs 80 yards to pass Ricky Williams (10,009) for 26th.
