The Missouri Tigers blew a 19-point second-half lead Saturday and lost 87-86 in OT against the Kansas Jayhawks it what may be the final regular-season matchup between the teams for quite some time.
The No. 3 Tigers raced out to an early lead with great shooting and excellent ball movement. However, midway through the second half, the No. 4 Jayhawks rallied with the help of the loud, raucous fans in Allen Fieldhouse, slowly erasing the large deficit.
The Tigers had opportunities to win the game at the end of regulation and overtime. Guard Phil Pressey had his shot blocked by Thomas Robinson just before the buzzer to end regulation. Marcus Denmon hit a potential game-winning shot, but it came after the buzzer as the Tigers failed to get a shot up in time.
The game will likely be the last regular-season game between to two rivals as the Tigers are departing the Big12 conference for the SEC. Kansas officials have been hesitant to keep the rivalry going by scheduling non-conference games as they are still upset about Mizzou’s departure from the conference.
