High school basketball in the St. Louis metro area gets underway this week. As we embark on another exciting year of prep hoops, here are some of the top boys’ players to watch in the 2015-16 season.
Jordan Barnes (CBC): Senior point guard who has made a name for himself as a big-shot maker. Signed with Indiana State.
Aaron Cook (Westminster): Talented 6’2″ senior guard who led Wildcats to the Class 4 state quarterfinals. Signed with Southern Illinois.
Tyler Cook (Chaminade): Physical 6’8″ senior who is ranked as one of the top power forwards in the country. Has signed with Iowa.
Daniel Farris (Vashon): Junior point guard who has led Madison Prep to two consecutive Final Four appearances. Should lead Vashon back to prominence.
Jordan Goodwin (Althoff): Junior forward who is one of the top underclassmen in the state of Illinois. Led the Crusaders to the IHSA Class 3A state finals in ’15.
Brendan Gooch (Althoff): Smooth 6’6″ senior forward who also returns for the Illinois Class 3A state runners-up. Signed with Southern Illinois.
Carte’Are Gordon (Vianney): Strong 6’8″ sophomore forward who is one of the best in the country in the Class of 2018. Led Golden Griffins to a district title in ’15.
Brandon Jackson (Cardinal Ritter): Excellent 6’7″ senior forward who returns to lead one of the state’s top Class 3 units. Being recruited by several Division I schools.
Brandon McKissic (SLUH): Talented 6’2″ junior guard who returns after leading the Jr. Billikens to their first Final Four appearance in more than 30 years.
Zeke Moore (Riverview Gardens): Smooth 6’7″ senior swing who returns after averaging 25 points a game. Has signed with Saint Louis University.
Courtney Ramey (Webster Groves): Talented 6’2″ sophomore guard who is rated among the nation’s top backcourt players in the Class of 2018.
Xavier Sneed (Hazelwood Central): Athletic 6’5″ senior who returns after leading the Hawks to the Class 5 state quarterfinals. Has signed with Kansas State.
Levi Stockard (Vashon): Strong 6’7″ junior power forward who returns after helping Madison Prep to back-to-back Final Four appearances.
Jayson Tatum (Chaminade): All-American 6’9″ senior who returns as one of the top three players in the country. Has signed with Duke.
Torrence Watson (Whitfield): Talented 6’4″ sophomore guard who averaged 17 points a game as a freshman.
Christian Willis (CBC): Strong 6’2″ senior guard who returns after leading the Cadets in scoring. Has signed with Arkansas State.
