The St.
Louis Rams lost against the San Francisco
“font-family: Verdana;”>49ers 26-0. I’m not surprised that the Rams lost. I would even venture and say that Rams are not surprised that they lost.
“font-size: 9.0pt; font-family: Verdana;”>But this defeat, at the hands of division foe, with first year head coach Jim Harbaugh has got to be the straw that broke the second hump on a camel’s back.
“font-size: 9.0pt; font-family: Verdana;”>The Rams’ defense fought valiantly during the first half in holding the 49ers to just three field goals. But, sooner or later the defense is going to run out of gas and they eventually did surrendering in 17 points in the second half. It’s a well-known fact that the Rams are decimated on both sides of the ball with injuries. But, that’s still no excuse.
“font-size: 9.0pt; font-family: Verdana;”>Cornerback Justin King, who gives everything he has week in and week out, is a liability week in and week out. Defensive end Chris Long has put together a solid year in registering a sack in six straight games. Middle linebacker James Laurinitas continues his All-Pro play with 12 tackles and a sack. And that’s it when talking about the defense. Long and Laurinitas are the only two players that are getting something done on a regular basis. They are who they are. Or what I thought they were.
“font-size: 9.0pt; font-family: Verdana;”>The Rams’ biggest eyesore is the offense. The offense lacks a lot of things. Playmaking ability, speed, creativity, crazy glue or stick um, and above everything else football players. The offense didn’t give the defense enough time to catch their breath or even get a cup of Gatorade. The Rams only managed only 157 yards of offense. The 49ers are a very good team, but they aren’t that dominating.
“font-size: 9.0pt; font-family: Verdana;”>The Rams merry go round on the offensive line doesn’t help. However, we are talking about professionals. And again, people here are totally enraged at the performance we have witnessed. Honestly people, what did we really expect? The makeshift, patchwork, fix-a-flat, and overmatched linemen got it handed to them.
“font-size: 9.0pt; font-family: Verdana;”>I’ve said this before. At some point you have to stop blaming the players for what we see on Sunday afternoon. The responsibility of why we are sitting through another losing season with, fan and media discontent falls squarely on the shoulders of the head coach, the scouting department, and the general manager.
“font-size: 9.0pt; font-family: Verdana;”>I once heard that December is the month that some coaches dread. Especially, the ones that are 20 games under .500 over the last three years in St. Louis. I’m just saying.
