Hey sports fans, who has shown the least amount of respect to his team this season?

Your choices are Ron Artest, Brett Favre or Roger Clemons.

Artest would win the most votes, nationally, but let’s examine this question a bit closer.

Favre decided to chide teammates who were holding out from preseason practice and said with pride he is not there to help tutor his future replacement, Aaron Rogers. He has refused to tell the Green Bay Packers whether he will retire and has refused to offer to sit out the last games of the season so Smith can get some actual game experience. Meanwhile, Favre has led his team to a horrible 3-11 record and he leads the NFL with 24 interceptions.

Clemons refused to tell the Houston Astros whether his is going to retire, and he and his agent didn’t offer a contract proposal to the team as the MLB Winter Meetings continued in Dallas earlier this month. The team had no choice but to refuse him arbitration and set him free until at least May 1.

Both Favre and Clemons consider themselves larger than the franchise for which they play.

Artest, while a troubled malcontent and team distraction, simply asked to be traded because he doesn’t like the situation in Indiana. There have been no fights or technical foul sprees this season. He had been a team player until he tripped out and asked to be traded – a request he has now retracted. While his behavior is not acceptable, he is not holding his team hostage.
