On Sept. 1, the Sportseye wondered aloud, “What’s Up with Rams’ celebration shenanigans?”
During the preseason win against the Detroit Lions, Stephen Jackson unveiled his roll the dice routine after a touchdown while Chris Claiborne and Anthony Hawthorne showboated after every sack and routine defensive play.
Now that the season is a complete disaster, Rams fans and the entire organization need to look back at the attitude that would allow such antics to take place before the regular season even started.
Jackson, Claiborne and Hawthorne have all had disappointing seasons and the latter two players will most likely not be Rams next season.
As for Jackson, he has not been used properly and that can cause frustration. However, if you run your mouth for more carries, it puts you in a put-up-or-shut-up situation. His performance in the Minnesota Vikings game last week leaves him with no option but to shut up until next season.
The Rams needs a new head coach, new assistant coaches and a new philosophy.
The Rams’ breakdown didn’t begin when Mike Martz fell ill or when injuries began mounting. The team was flawed mentally from the get-go, and the result is the 5-8 record it now carries.
