St. Louisan Tarris Reed Jr. has been a force during his senior season for the UConn Huskies.
The former Chaminade College Prep standout is enjoying the best season of his collegiate basketball career as one of the leaders for the Huskies, who are currently ranked No. 6 in the latest Associated Press national poll.
In 20 games this season, the 6’11” Reed is averaging career highs of 14.1 points and 7.8 rebounds a game. He is also averaging 2.1 blocks a game while shooting 63 percent from the field. He has recorded five double-doubles in helping UConn a 23-2 record. The Huskies are also in first place in the Big East Conference with a 12-1 record.
Reed had one of those double-doubles on Wednesday night when he had 16 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists and three blocks to lead the Huskies to a victory over Butler.
Reed has also enjoyed numerous sparkling performances throughout the season. He had 21 points, nine rebounds and three blocks in a victory over Seton Hall on January 13. He also had 20 points, nine rebounds and four blocks in a victory over Providence on January 7.
As a high school standout, Reed led Chaminade to back to back Final Four appearances in the Class 6 state tournament in 2020 and 2021. He finished his career at Link Year Academy in Branson on one of the top prep teams in the nation.
Reed spent the first two years of his collegiate career at Michigan before transferring to UConn before the 2024-25 season. As a junior last season, he averaged 9.6 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game.
