According to the Jacksons former manager, Tito Jackson died from a heart attack at a mall in New Mexico.
Jackson family friend and former Jacksons group manager Steve Manning told the Daily Mirror that Jackson died after stopping while driving to Oklahoma, where he’d recently moved.
The founding member of Jackson 5 died on Sunday, Sept. 15. He was 70.
A statement from authorities obtained by Hello! Magazine concurs with Manning’s statement.
“The officer was alerted to an individual requiring medical attention and promptly requested an ambulance,” the statement read. “The individual was subsequently transported to a local hospital in Gallup, NM, where he was pronounced dead. Following this, the hospital requested the presence of detectives and the Office of the Medical Investigator. The deceased was identified as 70-year-old Toriano ‘Tito’ Jackson from Tulsa, Okla.”
The statement further explains that the investigation into the death is still ongoing and a definitive medical cause has not yet been determined.
