When singer and actress Janelle Monae hopped on the microphone as a live band played STL rap star Nelly’s iconic club hit “Hot In Herre,” paying homage was the last thing on her mind.
In the video clip released on TMZ.com, Monae sang the song’s hook without incident at an afterparty for the 67th Annual Grammy Awards Sunday night. She then blurted out “[expletive] you Nelly!” Monae proceeded with a freestyle rap that slammed him for his performance at Trump’s inauguration.
“You sold out, I used to think you was cool,” Monae rapped. “Now you look like a [expletive] fool.”
In other words Janelle Monae was clout chasing. Say no more. It’s what some entertainers and people do to attract attention to themselves.
