The City of St. Louis reported four COVID-19 deaths and 13 cases on Monday, May 11.
The city, which remains under the mayor’s stay-at-home order until May 18, has now reported 90 deaths and 1,526 cases.
Of the 1526 COVID-19 cases reported in the city, 1014 (or 66.4%) were black. Of the 90 victims of the pandemic, 59 (65.6%) were black. Only 45.9% of the city’s population is black, according to U.S. Census data.
“African Americans continue to be disproportionately impacted by COVID-19,” said Dr. Fredrick Echols, St. Louis health director.
With 90 reported deaths from the pandemic in 1526 reported cases, 5.9% of the people in the city who tested positive have died.
