Charley’s Body Shoppe in North St. Louis received a grant from Ronald McDonald House Charities of Metro St. Louis to “Hip Hop Jump Start” youth into better health.

The program is designed to engage youth in healthy life style choices to

Reduce the risk of diseases and health issues such as diabetes, asthma and obesity. The program is open for male and female youth 8 to 18 offering health education classes to support the dance and exercise program.

Participants will be provided with economical healthy food choices and alternatives to fatty foods that are often used to be filling as opposed to nutritionally balanced.

Additional perks for enrolling in this innovative activity is the youth have an opportunity to help each other as well as themselves become healthier, providing a safe haven for positive after school and Saturday activities. The most important measurable outcome will be the improvement of health and the rise of self-esteem in the participating youth.
