Jedda Jones, the comedienne, radio personality and creator of the popular “Ms. Dupree” character from The Tom Joyner Morning Show, has passed away. She was 73. Her cause of death has not yet been disclosed.

Jones’ unmistakable voice as “Ms. Dupree” became one of the highlights of the nationally syndicated morning show, which ran from 1994 to 2019. Her chemistry with Tom Joyner, Sybil Wilkes, J. Anthony Brown and the rest of the cast helped create many of the program’s most memorable moments.

Together, they built a show that entertained while celebrating Black culture, community and conversation. Jones’ contributions helped make The Tom Joyner Morning Show appointment listening for millions of Americans throughout its 25-year run.
