Timbaland is taking two former business associates to court, alleging they mismanaged millions of dollars and used their positions to enrich themselves at his expense. According to Rolling Stone, the Grammy-winning producer, whose legal name is Timothy Mosley, filed a $15 million lawsuit in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Monday against former manager Gary Marella and business manager Bruce Seckendorf.

The suit claims the pair took control of Timbaland’s finances in 2016 and later collected unauthorized commissions, excessive fees and personal expenses that allegedly drained his assets. Among the allegations are claims that Marella received millions in unauthorized payments and treated Timbaland’s Beatclub venture like a “piggy bank.”

Marella strongly disputes the accusations. In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, he said, “Unfortunately, Tim is attempting to shift responsibility for his own overspending and financial decisions onto someone else.” He also claimed the producer was already “broke and in debt” before he began managing him.

Timbaland’s attorney, Tynia Coats, pushed back on that narrative, telling Rolling Stone, “Mr. Marella is the one attempting to shift responsibility here.”
