The Wall Street Journal reported last week that Bank of America Corp. is talking with attorneys for black consumers who have brought class-action lawsuits against the bank alleging discriminatory auto-lending practices.

Plaintiffs allege that Bank of America policies made it possible for car dealers to engage in systemmatically charging higher rates when granting loans to African-American car buyers. The rates were higher than the rates paid by white consumers.

The case would probably reach trial later this year if a settlement is not agreed upon.
