A toll-free fraud hotline established by Comptroller Darlene Green will become active on Feb. 1 and will offer city employees and the general public “a quick, easy, free and confidential way to report fraud.”
“The fraud hotline is another tool for the comptroller’s office to use to protect taxpayer dollars,” Green said.
“People should be confident that their identity will be kept private when they call the hotline.”
The hotline’s 800-telephone number will be available on Feb. 1 and will be administered by the comptroller’s Internal Audit Section.
