The Webster Groves City Council unanimously elected Councilmember Emerson Smith as mayor pro tempore.
Smith will preside over council meetings and represent the city at official functions when Mayor Laura Arnold is unavailable. Smith joined the council by appointment in 2019, was elected in 2020 and re-elected in 2024.
He serves as council liaison to the Old Webster Business District and the Stormwater Management Advisory Commission.
