The St. Louis Agency on Training and Employment (SLATE) and the St. Louis Department of Personnel will host a joint hiring event from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, June 5, . at SLATE, 1520 Market St., 3rd Floor Conference Room.

Interviews will be available for limited-term utility workers, lifeguards, lifeguard supervisors and recreation assistants.  

These seasonal positions last approximately six months and offer opportunities for job seekers looking for outdoor work, experience and a pathway into public service. St. Louis residency is not required. 

Position Overview

  • Pay Rate: Starting at $16.91 per hour (varies by position).
  • Departments: Parks Division, Forestry Division and Recreation Division.
  • Available Roles: Utility workers, recreation assistants, lifeguards and lifeguard supervisors. 

Applicant Requirements 

  • Must be at least 16 years old. 
  • Preference is given to candidates with one year of general manual labor, construction or groundskeeping experience. 
  • Must be comfortable performing physically demanding work outdoors in various weather conditions, depending on the position.
