Missouri Foundation for Health (MFH) is accepting applications from individuals wishing to be considered for its Board of Directors. Five board positions are available each year. Directors govern MFH’s efforts to provide funding to nonprofits that improve the health of the state’s uninsured and underserved residents.

Professionals from all fields are invited to apply. MFH has a special interest in applicants with:

–      Prior experience serving on boards and committees.

–      Finance or health care experience, including people recently retired from health professions.

–    A strong spirit of public service.

–    A commitment to addressing health challenges of people from diverse backgrounds.

–    An understanding of regional and statewide community health issues.

Board members serve unpaid three-year terms, and must live in the MFH service region (see map at http://www.mffh.org/content/448/service-region.aspx).

MFH is committed to a diverse board that recognizes the health needs of growing populations, including Missourians of African-American and Hispanic descent.

Applications are reviewed by MFH’s Community Advisory Council, which then presents 15 to 25 candidates, from which the 15-member Board selects new members to fill available positions.  The Board distributes about $40 million in grants and awards annually.

MFH is an independent philanthropic foundation dedicated to empowering Missourians to achieve equal access to quality health services. MFH provides grant funding and education, and fosters community partnerships for health improvement, especially for the uninsured and underserved. Since its founding in 2000, MFH has provided more than $452 million in grants and awards to organizations in 84 Missouri counties and the City of St. Louis.

Applications must be submitted no later than August 10, 2012. Mailed entries must be postmarked by that date. To download a Board application, visit www.mffh.org/boardapplication.
