The next day was the BET Awards. This was interesting, because the power changed hands from CEO Bob Johnson to BET’s new Chairman/CEO, Deborah Lee. I think Bob wants to focus on the Charlotte Bobcats. He isn’t hurting, that’s for certain. He shouted out Nelly in the audience to acknowledge him as the co-owner. Bob also said that he learned to never walk down the red carpet of his own event with Michael Jordan because all eyes were on Jordan. Sounds like Seven a couple weeks ago. I guess that even the stars are struck by His Hoopingness.

Jacque strolled down with Doug E Fresh, Chante Moore and Kenny Latimore, Majic Johnson, Destiny’s Child and Halle Berry. There were only three brothers escorting the sisters to the press, and they were straight hating on Jacque because they all wanted to walk Halle. Anyhoo, Destiny’s Child’s performance was off the chain with their lap dances with the boyz, especially Terrence Howard. We’re going to have to wait another week to peep his movie Hustle and Flow since it was pushed back to July 22. Ciara and Missy laid it out, and Stevie Wonder and John Legend’s performance was legendary. It was such a tribute to then and now. And why did Stevie Wonder stand up and actually dance with two women? He was the bomb! And my girl Gladys Knight – I’m glad they gave her the lifetime achievement nod and had Tony Braxton and Faith Evans hit a couple of her songs. But why did Glayds get up there and rip it like that? Because she’s Gladys!
