Jazz at the Bistro is helping the Tipitina Foundation raise money for New Orleans musicians affected by Hurricane Katrina. The fundraiser is from 2 p.m.-6 p.m., Sunday, Sept.18 and features some of St. Louis’s biggest names: Erin Bode, Mardra and Reggie Thomas, Dave Venn, Bosman Twins, Montez Coleman, Gene Dobbs Bradford and Willie Akins. The Tipitina Foundation was formed in 2002 with the mission of uplifting the musical culture of New Orleans. Now it’s committed to saving it. Mike Mitchell, proprietor of The Bistro in Grand Center Restaurant, will donate 50 percent of all food purchased during the fundraiser to the Tipitina Foundation. Minimum donation of $20 per patron.
