It’s that time of year again when we get all gussied up to host holiday parties with coworkers, dinner soirees and, of course, family gatherings. As a host or even a partygoer, one’s style shouldn’t take the back seat to the decorations. And holiday style isn’t complete without bangin’ hair.
This holiday style season, it’s all about non-traditional ‘dos. That old school “French roll” with the “finger wave” on the side just isn’t going to cut it. Adding subtle drama to the hair, like a deep side-part bang or a bright fire color is the way to stand out, but still be complimentary to holiday-themed events. One’s hair should be the first thing that catches the eye.

The holidays are the perfect time to experiment with styles that might be a little out of one’s comfort zone. If the new ‘do doesn’t quite turn out how one expected, you have your holiday vacay to recover from the disaster. But that wouldn’t be the case with the talented team at St. James Place. We’ve enlisted owners James Brown and Kristopher Wilkerson to capture some of the season holiday hair heat.
Holiday filled with color
A pop of color always provides a revived look to any style. For our holiday hair spread, St. James Place co-owner Kristopher Wilkerson transformed our model into a redhead vixen by adding a bright, hot mix of red and pink tones to her long tresses.
“I love when clients let me experiment with different color combos, especially for the holidays. It gives them the opportunity to step outside the box, be daring and look fine while doing it,” said Wilkerson.
Subtle, natural colors in the brown and blonde family are still effective when wanting to add spice to your look without having to be extreme in your color transformation. Keeping in mind that we still are in the colder months and hair can be more fragile during these times, one has to enlist the help of a hair care professional to maintain healthy hair while being color treated.
Short and sassy = holiday classy
Opting for a short cut during the holiday season is a sure-fire way to get heads turning at the celebratory functions. The asymmetrical bob is the best way to switch your style up, but still keep hair on the head for the winter months. Even if you don’t want to do a big chop, opting for extensions to create the desired bob look will give you the opportunity to experience the short ‘do without committing to the short hair. Our featured model has naturally long hair, so Brown installed bonded extensions in order to cut the bob style.
The classic up-‘do
One cannot go through the holiday party season without rocking a chic up-‘do. Whether one’s hair type is curly, wavy or straight, the up-‘do can be tailored to fit any texture of hair.
I personally opt for an up style when I know I have to be formal, but still have that effortless chic vibe going. Even if one doesn’t want to wear formal attire to holiday functions, having an up-‘do will jazz up any outfit, turning it from shabby to chic.
