Christian Rap artist Flame, a St. Louis Native, received his first GRAMMY Award nomination in the Best Rock or Rap Gospel Album category. FLAME was nominated along with Christian Rock artists After Edmund, tobyMac, Superchick, and Sanctus Real. The GRAMMY award nomination for ‘Our World Redeemed’ follows FLAME’s 2009 Stellar Award nomination.
In related Grammy news, Nominees for the 51st annual were announced in a different way this yearn through a special concert that aired Wednesday night from Los Angeles.
Lil’ Wayne led the pack of artists and musicians with eight nominations, including album of the year for Tha Carter III.
Other leading artists are Coldplay, who earned seven nominations, and Jay-Z, Ne-Yo and Kane West, who each scored six. R&B Newcomers Jazmine Sullivan and Jennifer Hudson were also among the multiple nominees. Sullivan scored five nods for her debut album Fearless and Hudson received four.
The 51st Annual Grammy Awards are set for Feb. 8, 2009 at Los Angeles’ Staples Center and will be telecast live on CBS.
