Derrick Rodgers, 21, and his brother Rick Laurel, 26 meet with attorney Daniel Brown about a federal class-action lawsuit against city correction authorities. Rodgers, a plaintiff in the lawsuit, was attacked by another inmate and plaintiff, who alleges that guards have threatened him repeatedly to fight other inmates for their entertainment or betting purposes.

Retired Congressman Bill Clay celebrated with his son, U.S. Rep. Wm. Lacy Clay, very early on Tuesday, August 7 when Clay’s overwhelming victory over Russ Carnahan in the primary for Missouri’s 1st Congressional District was called. Clay crushed Carnahan, 57,580 votes to 30,895 – 63.2 percent to 33.9 percent.
